And for our second family wedding, Johns sister Megan got married September 8th at the Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford. John and I were each in the wedding party and the kids were the flower girl and ring bearers! Let’s just say we were exhausted after the weekends events! So happy to have Alex officially be a part of our family! The kids love their Uncle Alex!

Kaelyn’s Parties!

Well… being 8 and all, Kae decided to ask if we could have a friends party this year, because she thought she was old enough now and had enough friends ๐Ÿ™‚ We decided on having it at the Centre in Elgin. They have an awesome zero depth pool with water slides and things for kids of all ages and it was perfect because they provided lunch and drinks and 2 hours of fun in the pool! Baga and Papa helped wrangle the boys while Maga and Nana helped keep an eye on the girls. The girls had a blast and were EXHAUSTED sitting in the party room eating. They all looked like they were gonna fall asleep in their pizza! The boys and neighbor boys were totally amped up and ready for more party by the time it was all over. How do little people have SO MUCH ENERGY?! Agh. I don’t get it. Well enough of my yapping…pics from this party:

Kaelyn, Ella M, Ella P, Marissa, and Julia

All a bit sleepy after swimming.

Ian all sugared up with a cupcake the size of his face.

Jackson enjoying his cupcake and Gavin staring off into space. Oh boys.

On St. Patricks Day, we had Kaelyn’s family party at Maga and Baga’s house! We had loads of corned beef, cabbage, carrots, bread, and polish sausage (I’m probably forgetting a bunch more…we tend to make a lot of food and eat it too). Oh and can’t forget black and tan’s from my dads bar. It wouldn’t be an irish/polish celebration without mentioning the bar and the booze. ย ๐Ÿ™‚ Sloshy sloshy beer. HA. We stuck with the St. Patty’s theme but did a bit more rainbow than anything else. Kae got to go with Nana to Deerfields Bakery and got to design her cake. Again…enough with the yappin’…here are the pic’s:

Kiki’s creative cake!

Boys reading with Uncle Al

I just love her face in this one! Muah! My big 8 year old…wow…just wow.

ย We also got to celebrate another birthday! Nana Jean turn 87(??) this year so she got to celebrate with Kae and all the other March babies in the family (Aunt Gail, Uncle John, Aunty Ann, Matthew…I’m probably forgetting someone). March and May and September are big birthday months in our family!

I’ll be back shortly (a day or two) to update on spring break (did absolutely nothing and LOVED it) and Easter! xo

Halloween Part 1

On Wednesday the boys got to decorate sugar cookies, decorate cupcakes, eat mummy dogs, Halloween mac n cheese and watch It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown during their special Halloween party with Cameron (and Janine+Babybug Tummyhog).

*Sidenote:ย I have a strong hatred for homemade sugar cookies.ย The dough is awful to make, if you don’t work with it the right way it gets angry and breaks, and I generally use all of my patience during the day with the kids soย  I bet you know where that is going I don’t have very much left to work with finicky dough. But Betty C. helped me Tuesday night *sound the angels singing* and things went SWIMMINGLY. (I pre-baked the cookies so they’d be ready for Wednesday just in case I decided to have a meltdown. I thought I’d prefer only John to see/hear my wrath if the dough decided it hated me.) John was certainly getting a kick out of it. I screamed/kicked/jumped every time I got a good cookie out of the dough! AND I GOT 32 cookies out of the batch!! WOOO! ย At this point in my life it’s the little things that get me through ๐Ÿ™‚

So we began icing our cookies first with Janine’s guidance and I worked on making some lopsided cupcakes! I enjoy my cupcakes lopsided, don’t you Convection oven cookers of America?!

Ian enjoyed icing his cookies!

Totally enjoying his cookie, pre-iced by mommy.

Slopping on his icing and grabbing another bottle to decorate THE SAME COOKIE!

Mummy Dogs for Lunch

FYI Make sure you have kitchen scissors to cut the dough, it makes the process MUCH faster when slicing the dough for the mummy wrap. Need the recipe, they are on Pillsbury’s website ๐Ÿ™‚

Ian’s Cupcake…which then got gobbled up by Mac. The never-ending saga of my life… At least we got a picture of it!!

Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 of Halloween fun! Kaelyn’s Halloween parade at school, pumpkin carving, and trick or treating! Woo!

All grown up…sorta

We have never met a more awesome bunch of people, THE FOLEYS! (for those who don’t know them, they are our neighbors across the street) Mr. Jackson was born June 1st ย 2009 and has become one of the kids favorite little guys to play with! Yesterday we went to Jackson’s 1st Birthday party with a sweet firefighter theme! All the kids were given a firefighter hat, and they had an awesome bounce house to keep the kids happy ๐Ÿ™‚

In the bouncy house! Gavin had NO interest in getting in the crazy bounce house, but Jackson was clearly having a blast!

Jackson’s sweet smash cake!

Blowing out his candle with Mom and Dad.

Yummy red icing!

All of us parents didn’t expect this but ALL THE KIDS KEPT STILL! Woo for cute group photos! All of Jackson’s friends and cousins!

Also in other news, we have started potty training with Ian! And he is doing great! They (experts, random people on the street…) say that potty training boys is much worse than potty training girls. We have already gotten over a fear of pooping on the pot, that a boy ๐Ÿ™‚ I have yet to catch a photo of him sitting in the bathroom but I’ll be sure to post asap!

Things we having going on this week:

  • Kaelyn is starting swim lessons again at Sleepy Hollow Pool.
  • Toy Story 3 comes out on Friday, which will be Ian’s first movie in a theatre.
  • Fathers Day (possible bbq?!)

Not too much but enough to make things interesting, right?!

And here they are this morning, “sharing”. Gavin has learned how to climb onto the couch from the floor or the bench…then he just flounders around on top of us. It’s fun. Ian is very tolerant.

Boys Will Be Boys

Hmm…I never truly understood that statement until Ian was born. Kaelyn was always a sweet, calm and very independent little girl. She has since grown out of the calm stage but has gained so much more maturity in these past 6 years. I mean, come on, she’s going be a FIRST GRADER next year! Woo Hoo!

Now Ian, lets just say he’s testing my patience. He’s a very loud, rough and tumble sort of kid. We always joke that he will be the first to have a broken bone (knock on wood PLEASE) or join wrestling in middle school just to pummel kids down. But seriously, he loves to test his limits and tries to get away with anything he wants to. Well today we had our friend Jackson over to play for a bit, and Ian decided that eating sand wasn’t enough…He needed to throw it up in the air to try and catch it in his mouth?! I say it like that because SERIOUSLY?! He’s gonna send me to the crazy house. I can’t wrap my mind around the insanity coming out of his little brain. Oh well… Here’s some pictures. And hopefully a nap for the boys will cure them of all their crazy thoughts.

Also, 1-year-olds love climbing large slides that are taller than their mothers. And usually get stuck near the top hoping for a rescue. Geesh. (no pictures of that today…next time I’ll keep the camera around my neck)

Getting each of their own toys in their own corners. Sharing is a rare happening these days, at least for my boys. Jackson was very generous in his sharing today.

Ian, after whipping his sister in the face with a shovel full of sand. It never fails to have a camera ready to capture such precious moments in life… smoke coming out of my nostrils and snarls out of my mouth

Kaelyn has mastered the monkey bars at home AND at the park! “Mom! Take a picture!”

Mr. Jackson was hanging out watching everyone and everything. What a cutie pie ๐Ÿ™‚

Ah, the sand munchers. I’m pretty certain I said “NO, DONT EAT THE SAND” to both boys about 2o times. Ah, Boys will be boys. (but very cute boys indeed)

Lions and Tigers and Monkeys and Snakes…

Yesterday was Gavinators 1st Birthday party! Our family and friends helped us throw him a wonderful birthday party! This blog will mostly be pictures…I’m very sleeeeeepy today.

Ian, Cameron, and Jackson all hung out together in the sandbox! Making sandcastles, and filling buckets kept them busy for hours!

Mom, Dad, Dziadzia, Nana Jean, Aunt Gail, Uncle John and Matt hanging out watching G-$ open his gifts. Uncle John was the only one who got the picture memo.

Gavin got lots of fun toys and fun clothes to wear! Here he is modeling his Toy Story shirt.

He had everyone sing Happy Birthday and Sto Lat (Polish version of Happy Birthday). He was very happy afterwards!

His birthday theme was animals, so the cake had a Lion (just like his invitation), Alligator, Tiger, Snake, Elephant and Giraffe all on a big number 1!!

He got a few nice handfuls of icing including the elephant and a green balloon! Mmmm! He wiped a lot of it on himself though, then realized the yum factor of icing!

Yum-o!!

He got to eat off most of the icing from his legs and hands.

And that was Kaelyn’s piece of cake!
